About the Print

The Collector’s Editions presents a rare opportunity to own a handmade print portfolio by artist Sahand Hesamiyan. Majaz (Gold Edition), 2017 and Majaz (White Edition), 2017 each contain three limited edition prints. In this series, Hesamiyan translates the concept and spirit of his three-dimensional monumental sculptures into an intimate two-dimensional form. Each piece captures the artist’s engagement with Islamic architecture; the composition of the work evoking the light, repetition and geometry contained within ancient structures. The Majaz series also communicates the symbolic and spiritual power of Islamic geometry: giving physical form to complex ideas relating to time, eternity and universality. Indeed, ‘Majaz’ means ‘unreal’ in Farsi, referring to the metaphysical and unexplainable.
